Paragraph #1

Though there are some small similarities in the articles such as their format, there are however distinctions-which stem from the different objectives of the author- for example, different ‘moves’ such as acronyms and indicating who cares, and distinctions in diction which work persuasively in order to capture the attention of the intended audience and influence their opinion. These in turn are used in order evoke a feeling of shock in the case of the People’s magazine, persuade the reader in the psychology based article, or dissuade the reader in terms of the economical piece.

                                                    WP1 Reverse Outline Reflection

I think similar to my WP1 created a reverse outline helped me organize my work a little better. One of the main things I seem to have struggled with the most throughout this course is organizing my thoughts and my papers. I found that I often get caught up in an idea and stray from the main point of the paragraph and creating a reverse outline helped me visualize what exactly I was supposed to be focused on throughout the paragraph and stick to it by either deleted or rephrasing sentences that seemed out of place. The reverse outline also helped me recognize areas or small paragraphs where I had added information that was unnecessary which I think helped the flow of the paper a little more. I wish I had used the reverse matrix as more of a tool when I was writing these papers because it really helps you take a step back and visualize what your main point is (or if you’ve even effectively conveyed a main point) which is often difficult to see.
